Monday Makeover: 10 Day Advocare Cleanse

Last week I started a new series of posts called Monday Makeover to track my progress getting physically fit for my birthday in October. I have been training 3 times a week with Zeke Samples of Surreal Body Solutions and in just a few short weeks I am already seen amazing results. Zeke is not only helping me with the fitness side of things, he also has me doing a 10 Day cleanse to rid my body of toxins and cravings and hopefully set me on a path where making healthy food choices will become second nature. Currently I am on Day 5 of the cleanse.

What does the 10 Day cleanse involve?

First the food- no dairy, no sugar, no soda, no coffee no bad fats, virtually no bread products or starches, and no alcohol.

Second are the Advocare Supplements. In the morning I either drink an Advocare fiber drink or take probiotics. At night I take 3 herbal cleanse pills. They all come packaged in a nice little AdvoCare Herbal Cleanse (Citrus) box.

At first I was a little frightened when Zeke suggested a 10 Day Cleanse. I wasn’t even really sure what a cleanse was. I had flashbacks to a young lady who went on a family beach trip with us one summer and ate nothing but chicken broth the whole week.

Surprisingly, the cleanse has been much easier than I thought it would be. I’ve had to deal with some fairly strong feelings of hunger because my calorie intake is so much lower than what I’m used to, but I haven’t really had any bad cravings.

My healthy recipe board on Pinterest has really saved me and I’ve tried some great new recipes. (Although it has become glaringly apparent that I have a propensity to pin recipes with cheese in them.) Strangely enough, when I think about adding things back into my diet, it is the cheese I am most looking forward to and not the sugar- this coming from a diehard sugar addict. More Advocare Cleanse recipes can be found in this post.

Zeke did say this cleanse would eliminate cravings for bad foods and it turns out he’s right. So far I feel really great. I no longer wake up in a fog in the morning, needing 2 cups of coffee to get going and I don’t have the huge energy dip in the afternoon that I used to.

I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I am posting my before pictures. If you have a weak stomach, don’t scroll down any further. Hopefully having these pictures out in the open will be a constant reminder to never again let my health slide like I did. And if I can inspire anyone who was stuck in a rut like I was, lacking energy, unhappy about the way I looked, and feeling much older than my actual age…..well, that would be awesome.

In just the short week and a half since these pictures were taken, I have seen amazing results. My posture is improved, I feel stronger, and my clothes are starting to get loose.

Next week I will post my end of cleanse pictures.

Duuuuuude. You look great! What are you talking about that you are on WW?

I’ve been thinking about a cleanse and Zeke-he seems to be everywhere in my virtual world lately. I’d love to start training with him, but I keep coming up with excuses (like money and time).

The cleanse seems like it might be a good jump start, though…

Thanks Tricia! I think what bothers me most is how out of shape and old I feel. And look at that posture- horrible! The cleanse has made me feel so much better. I have really stopped obssessing about food. Zeke is amazing. So nice and knowledgable and if you decide to train with him, I think you’ll be glad you did :)
