Southern Living had a wonderful round-up of pepper jelly recipes in their December 2012 issue and it has me wondering- Is pepper jelly becoming in vogue? No longer relegated to an existence on a block of cream cheese at baby showers and bridal luncheons? I hope so because it just might be my favorite condiment.
The recipe that most caught my eye was this one for a Margarita flavored with Green Pepper Jelly. After making it this past weekend, I think it may become my go to way to make Margaritas. The tangy green pepper jelly turns it into a sweet heat treat. Now if this winter weather would just be replaced by some heat.
Warning- you’ll get a workout squeezing 1 full cup of lime juice. It’s a lot of limes. Best to make your husband do it.
Pepper Jelly Margaritas
- 1 cup tequila
- 1 cup lime juice
- 1/2 cup orange liqueur (I used Cointreau)
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup green pepper jelly
- Place all ingredients in a large pitcher and stir with a whisk until sugar and pepper jelly are dissolved.
- Fill cocktail shaker with ice and pour desired amount of Margarita mixture into shaker. Cover with lid and shake well for about 30 seconds. Strain into chilled glasses with salted rims and serve.

Hi Steph! I had never heard of it either, but it’s super delicious!
I looked through the November 2012 page by page and could not find any recipes using pepper jelly.
My mistake. It’s the December issue. Must have thought it was Nov since I got it in early Nov. Sorry!
