Pet of the Month: Olive

This is Olive. She is a 3 1/2 year old terrier mix and she currently resides at The Humane Society of York County. Yes, she’s a pit bull and I know that scares a lot of people. But spend some time with Olive and you will immediately see that she has a good heart. She’s sweet, affectionate, well-behaved, and smart. I could go on and on about her because I absolutely adore her. If my husband would let me have another dog, I would adopt her in a second.

Olive walks really well on a leash and she’d probably be a good jogging buddy. I took Olive with me to the Dog Gone Good Times Festival and she did very well riding in the car. She was very friendly with all of the dogs and people who came up to greet her and she will sit for treats. Her favorite thing to do is roll in the grass.

Olive gets lonely at the shelter and she needs to put on some weight. She is more than ready and willing to be a loving companion and she is sure to bring much joy to the life of whoever adopts her.

Oh, and there’s one more thing about Olive. She has crazy ears. One goes up and the other goes down. So cute!

If you’d like to meet Olive, you can visit her at The Humane Society of York County between the hours of 1 and 4 pm every day of the week except Monday. I really hope she finds a home soon. Or I may have to sneak her into my house.

Christin is right on about Olive. She is a great jogging partner and would likely go much farther than she goes with me. She really likes other dogs, but she doesn’t really like them in her face–don’t blame her at all! She’s so alert that all the noises and craziness in the shelter catch her attention, so shelter life is tough for her. Olive will cover your face with kisses, she is so affectionate. She’ll make someone a wonderful companion!

I personally have a pit terrier mix. She’s red nosed Pit and Lab. Not only is she the sweetest dog in the WORLD but she is the most loyal companion I have ever owned. I wish dearly I could make Olive a part of our family but alas, our home isn’t large enough for 2 pups. However, I just want to make it known that PitBulls are known for their loyalty, friendliness and dire urge to do nothing but please their owner. Honestly, that is why they are so easy to train for fighting, they’d rather hurt themselves than to disappoint their owners. So please don’t let her Breed be a determining factor when considering adoption. I promise on my Life, one you go Pit you’ll never go back.

What a wonderful tribute to sweet Olive, Christin! I too can attest to the wonderful personalities of pit bulls. They are by far the most affectionate dogs I’ve ever been around. I love Olive too and if she’s still around when we get in our house she will be hard to resist. So nice of you to do a blog entry about one of our doggies!
