Fort Mill Neighborhoods: Springfield

Springfield, one of the newer developments in Fort Mill, has a range of different price points and is a wonderful place to call home. Located right next to Nation Ford High School on Springfield Parkway, Springfield offers so many activities and amenities, you will feel like you are living in a resort. Its location is just minutes from Pineville, NC and Carolina Place Mall and I-77 making an easy commute into Charlotte. Springfield residents are quick to learn the short cut to the Ballantyne area of Charlotte which offers many shops and restaurants.

Currently there are three different sections in Springfield. The custom home section, Golf Villas built by Cunnane, and Garrison Mill built by Lennar. A new section is getting ready to open with homes built by David Weekley.

There are a number of home builders in the custom home section and the selection of builders has changed in the last few years. Currently building are Shea, Arthur Rutenberg, Evans-Coghill, Waddell Custom Homes, Harris Construction Group, and David Weekley as well as a few others.

Custom homes sell from the 500s to over $1 million and are situated on lots that range in size from just under 1/2 an acre to a full acre. Most are in the 1/2 acre range. Many of the custom homes are built with views of the Springfield Golf Course.

Custom homes have 3-car garages, gourmet kitchens with granite countertops, and spacious master suites with large walk in closets. You’ll also find many of these homes have built-in sound systems, kitchen pantries large enough to store all the kitchen gadgets in the Williams Sonoma catalog, and either a screened porch or a covered deck off of the back of the house.

There are still a number of lots, both interior and on the golf course, to build on.

Whenever I walk down Horton Grove by the Golf Villas, I always feel like I am at the beach. The Cunnane houses are tall and narrow and much more spacious inside than they appear from the street. These homes have high ceilings, open floor plans, master on lower level, and small lots. Yard care is included in the HOA fee for Cunnane homes. Walk by the Golf Villas in the evening and you are sure to find many home owners enjoying their lovely front porches.

Cunnane Homes are priced from $329,00 and on average range between 2,500 and 3,200 square feet. The Cunnane homes have been very popular and the lots are dwindling fast. All Golf Villas are in very close proximity to the pool, tennis courts, and driving range.

Cunnane Model Home is open daily. Weekdays 10am-5pm, Satudays 10am-6pm, and Sundays 1 to 5pm.

Lennar Model Home in Garrison Mill

The Lennar homes in Garrison Mill are priced from the 270s. There are 4 and 5 bedroom plans that offer plenty of space for growing families.

The new section of Springfield getting ready to open will feature 106 homesites some of which will be on the 12th and 13th holes of the Springfield Golf Course. Both David Weekley and Lennar own lots in this section. Home construction should begin by the end of the year.

Boredom will never set in with all the things to do at Springfield. In addition to an 18 hole golf course and driving range, Springfield also boasts 6 tennis courts (2 with lights), an activity center with exercise and weight rooms, and a Junior Olympic size pool, a baby pool, and a third pool with water slide and water works area.

A full-time activities coordinator plans lots of fun activities for both kids and adults each month. During the summer months, kids can participate on the Greenwave swim team which is a part of the Greater Charlotte Swim League. Tennis playing adults have the option of participating in numerous Usta Tennis Leagues throughout the year. Fort Mill Tennis Pro Billy McKinney is available for clinics and lessons.

Located just next to the tennis courts is the Springs Farm Stand which is open during strawberry and peach seasons. Many neighborhood kids make the short walk over for fresh smoothies and ice cream made from fresh Springs Farm fruit. A limited variety of fresh vegetables, jarred goods (jams and jellies) and baked goods are also available. Also a candy rack and cooler of drinks.

Located just across from Springfield is the Anne Springs Close Greenway. With over 2,000 acres of land, the Greenway is perhaps Fort Mill’s greatest treasure. Membership is included with HOA fees. This is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon taking a hike. The Greenway also has horseback riding trails and mountain biking trails.

Springfield is part of the award-winning Fort Mill School District. Residents attend Springfield Elementary, Fort Mill Middle, and Nation Ford High School.
