You know you really like a restaurant when you start planning your next visit, down to what you will order, before you even finish your meal. We found Jade Asian Fusion to be satisfying on all levels- good food, attentive service, and a pleasing atmosphere.
Jade is located on the second floor of Ballantyne Village right above the Terrace Cafe – another nice choice for dining in the Ballantyne Area. Due to its premium location, Jade has a tendency to get busy. We went on a Sunday evening and found the dining room to be fairly full for what is typically a slow restaurant night.
The floor to ceiling windows on two sides of the dining room fill the space with natural light. The windows look out across an outdoor eating area with numerous tables. Because of the staggering temperatures, there were no takers for the al fresco dining but I would imagine that on an early fall evening the balcony is bursting with activity.
Tables are draped in linens and topped with a table-top sized piece of paper on which our waiter wrote his name when he introduced himself to us. There are a few booths along one side of the dining room and at the back of the dining area there appears to be a private dining room behind a curtain.
Our waiter was pleasant and attentive and suggested we try the Cherry Blossom Sushi Roll. It consists of shrimp tempura, salmon, and avocado wrapped in soy paper. We enjoyed it so much that we decided on our return visit, we would just order sushi and lots of it.
That’s not to say the entrees weren’t good. They were. Very much so.
The menu is diverse with something to suit every taste. There are Japanese, Chinese, and Vietnamese Stir Fries, curry dishes, and rice and noodle bowls. My husband has been on a Pad Thai kick lately. He ordered the Chicken Pad Thai with 2 out of 3 stars of spiciness. It had a whole lot of spice and I don’t think I want to know how spicy the 3 star Pad Thai is.
I had the 7 Flavor Beef which was listed under Specialties on the menu. It consisted of flank steak infused with lemongrass, peanuts, garlic, ginger, basil leaves, and chili peppers served with broccolini and rice. There was a whole lot of flavor going on in this dish and I loved every bite of it, devouring the whole plate.
Chase had the Teriyaki Chicken. He enjoyed it, but it was probably my least favorite. Definitely plenty of meat on the plate to fill up a teenage boy. Well, for a few hours at least.
