Come-See-Me Festival Moonlight Jazz and Blues

Last night we went to Winthrop Lake to enjoy an evening of music and food. There was a good size crowd there and we ran into an old neighbor and an old friend. The wonderful thing about Winthrop Lake is there is oodles of green space around the lake. Plenty of room for people to spread out and throw a ball or frisbee.

Tickets for samples from the no-pork cook off were available for $1 each. There were approximately 20 tents set up with samples available. We sampled a variety of foods, my favorite being collard greens grits with Parmesan cheese and a shrimp stuffed jalapeno wrapped in bacon. We also enjoyed shrimp and grits and baked beans with a secret ingredient. It took me 4 guesses to get the secret ingredient right- apples.

The 10-day long Come-See-Me Festival wraps up tonight with a sky-diving show and fireworks. So far what was supposed to be a rainy weekend has turned into a weekend of gorgeous weather. But there’s a good chance that tonight’s festivities will be cut a little short.
