This weekend the Carolina Renaissance Festival will open for its 19th year. This is one of the largest Renaissance Fairs in the country and is definitely an all-day affair. There is nonstop entertainment and no chance you’ll get bored with an 11-stage theater, medieval amusement park, arts and crafts fair, tons of food, jousting tournament, over 500 costumed characters, and a 22 acre village marketplace. Munch on a turkey leg, sip a mug of beer, and maybe even go on a camel ride. Lots of fun rides for young children.
The Renaissance Festival will be ongoing weekends from October 6 to November 18. Open Saturday and Sunday from 10:ooam-5:30pm. Takes place rain or shine. No pets. Free parking.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 5-12. Save $1 per ticket by purchasing tickets at Harris Teeter. There is a charge for rides and games ($1 to $5).
Traffic can be bad. Best to get there early and leave early.
